Because this episode was recorded right after St. Patrick's Day, Colton was listening to a lot of Irish music, Gearoid McCarthy and The Script, in particular. Tim gives a shout out for the 1990’s indie movie The Commitments about an Irish soul band. The movie has a fantastic soundtrack as well. Beer of the Week

It’s a three-beer week. First, we have the Stone Brewing Co.'s Enjoy By 04.20.24 Hazy IPA. Always a delicious hazy, you have four days before… well we’re never sure what happens if you have it after the by date. Second, is a brewery out of Las Vegas that we know nothing about. That’s Big Dog’s Brewing Co.’s Dirty Dog IPA. Pretty good and not at all mangy. Finally, for the second week in a row we sample something from Bottle Logic Brewing. It’s their Recursion IPA. Oh no, it smells like nelson hops!

What is a Calling?

What is a calling? Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines it as a “strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence”. Christians often talk about a calling or being called to something. Unfortunately, it’s also used too often as a weapon to manipulate others to accept or follow our decision to do something. Are all of us called to do something by God? Does God want us to do something, anywhere, without some dramatic message from the Holy Spirit? Is our calling more often than not just being?

Beer of the Week

We drink two beers this week, First, we drink the El Seguno Brewing Co. Broken Skull 3:16 IPA. No, it’s not a reference to the famous Bible verse but Stone Cold Steve Austin. It’s remarkably light in flavor, not a traditionally powerful IPA. Next we drink a Radiant Beer Co. collaboration with Bottle Logic Brewing, the Intrinsic Lights West Coast IPA. It’s fruity, citrusy. Tim tasted grapefruit, and Colton tasted more orange. Both delicious.

He is risen, indeed! It's a busy week for us at the GTHP so we've thrown up one, lightly edited episode for Easter Week. There's a kerfuffle about a church's Easter invites. Tim's has a grievance with the cultural appropriation of Christian holidays. We discuss the various differences in the four Gospels of Easter Week (yes there are differences), particularly with the Synoptic Gospels and the Book of John. Finally, we discuss what Christ's death on the cross and his resurrection mean to us.
