Let's delve into the relevance and effectiveness of protests in modern society. We examine historical movements and contrast them with contemporary protests, such as the No Kings Day demonstrations, questioning whether peaceful assembly still serves as an effective tool for change. Have they really ever been effective? Is there potential for initiating conversations or merely serving as a platform for virtue signaling?

Tim heartily endorses Becoming Led Zeppelin, the new documentary about the origins of the band. Colton loves Chance the Rapper. What pro team has the worst fanbase?
Then we dive into the profound significance of Pentecost, a cornerstone event that symbolizes unity of the Church and how this event contrasts with the Tower of Babel.
The conversation also explores the complexity of nationalism, faith, and identity. How do we balance tensions between patriotism and global empathy, and the challenges of contemporary cultural narratives.

It's here!! The inagural beer from our nanobrewery Ramblin' Brewing Company's 'Stone Temple Piglets'. As we navigate the ups and downs of creating the perfect ale, we explore the art and science behind fermentation, the challenges of consistency, and the joy of sharing a grassroots brewing experience.
In addition to our brewing escapades, we delve into intriguing discussions about church dynamics, including the implications of church takeovers and the influence of megachurch models. We also touch on the spiritual journey of Joe Rogan and other public figures. Is it good for the Church? Does it matter?

After a brief beer sabbatical, discuss our delving into nano brewing and the luanch of Ramblin' Brewing Co. Then we have a brief discussion about the new Pope, followed by a discussion about church takeovers and fights, reflecting on a dispute over control of a prominent Nashville church. We finish with a recent discussion Greg Boyd had on his podcast where he as asked by a listener, why is not dogma that God is Love? Is it true that God is Love isn't dogma and if it isn't, has it ever been dogma in the Church?

We continue our discussion on the challenging topic of indifference, especially from a Christian perspective. Our conversation touches on the influence of social media in shaping perceptions of indifference and action, and how the digital age has changed the way we relate to global and local events. This episode encourages reflection on the responsibilities that come with awareness and the importance of being engaged witnesses in our world.

Perils of Indifference Part I

Wednesday May 07, 2025

Wednesday May 07, 2025

Tim starts the show with thoughts on Douglas Murray’s recent and peculiar criticism of “non-experts” on the Joe Rogan Show.
We then begin a long conversation on the question of moral indifference and the balance between bearing witness to suffering and the ethical imperatives to act, drawing connections between past and present global issues. The basis of the conversation is Elie Wiesel’s book Night. In it Wiesel shares the memories of the death of his family, and the death of his innocence as a Jew suffering in a WWII concentration camp. In addition, we discuss Wiesel’s 1999 White House Speech, The Perils of Indifference.

Beer of the Week is Moonlight Brewing Co.’s Bombay By Boat West Coast IPA. The episode concludes with the “Hallelujah” Chorus from Handel’s “Messiah”.
